The successful candidate will lead the canteen team with a hands-on approach to creating innovative, sustainable, seasonal offerings while sourcing fresh local produce.  Under the direction of the Line Manager the ideal candidate will produce and cook outstanding food using the finest and freshest ingredients while also leading the canteen team in New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare and any other subsequent locations under the control of Clare County Council and to provide other catering services as required on a daily basis.
 

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:

• Have a minimum of 2 years satisfactory experience managing in a busy canteen/kitchen environment or in a similar type of environment e.g.  food outlet/retailer;

• Be self-motivated with a record of demonstrating initiative and management in a similar workplace environment;
• A high degree of knowledge of requirements of Food Safety Authority of Ireland;
• A good/reasonable standard of education sufficient to enable her/him to perform the job efficiently and effectively;
• Ability to work as part of a team and ability to lead, plan, organize and manage the ongoing operations of the canteen;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Must be flexible to work rostered hours required by the organisation within a 39-hour week;
• Have the interpersonal skills and judgement required to manage the constant interface with service users/employees of Clare County Council and canteen work colleagues focusing on delivering quality customer service;

• Demonstrate ability to build morale, motivate and generally relate well to other staff and users of the canteen;
• Problem solver, solutions-orientated with a flexible, can-do approach;
• A passionate and creative approach to cuisine, keeping up to date with current culinary trends.
