The Executive Architect works as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering architectural services to the Local Authority and provides advice and leadership to the team. Reporting to a Senior Executive Architect, or such other designated person(s) as may be assigned from time to time, the post holder will deliver a programme of architectural work and provide advice to the County Council on all architectural matters. The programme of work may include responsibility for the construction / refurbishment of social housing accommodation, civic and recreational buildings, maintenance works to Council property, feasibility, master planning and urban design, project management, contract administration and architectural advice as well as leadership and input to the positive development of the relevant department.
Reporting to the appropriate line manager, the Executive Architect will be responsible for the efficient management of their prescribed work area within the architectural function. Managers at this level work within defined parameters relevant to the position, in accordance with the Local Authority’s vision and objectives. The Executive Architect will be required to work closely with elected Councillors to deliver the full range of services and implement local policy decisions. Delivery of efficient services and value for money is crucial.
