Kerry County Council is seeking to appoint an Irish Language Development Officer to co-ordinate and implement the statutory requirements of Irish language legislation including the Official Languages Act 2003 & (amendment) 2021, the primary aim of which is to mainstream and normalise Irish as part of the community’s everyday dealings with the Irish State.
The Irish Language Development Officer will work with the Oifigeach Gaeilge in implementing the Council’s Irish language scheme, Scéim Teanga and in ensuring all ‘Language Standards’ set out in legislation are adhered to. This position will also involve a co-ordinated approach to the management of Oifig na Gaeilge and the implementation of all relevant schemes as part of the Corporate Services Team and will work closely with the Oifigeach Gaeilge on all these duties.
