Foreman Craft - Water Services


Limerick City & County Council invites applications from suitably qualified applicants for the position of Foreman Craft (Water Services).

The initial assignment will be to Shannon Estuary Water Treatment Plant but the successful candidate can be reassigned to other areas of the Council in the future.

The Person

1. Character
Each candidate must be of good character

2. Health
Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

3. Education, training experience, etc.
Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms;

(a) have reached a standard of education sufficient to enable him/her to carry out the duties assigned to him/her satisfactorily and

(b) hold the National Craft Certificate or equivalent and have served a recognised apprenticeship in the Building Trade and be a fully qualified Craftworker and

(c) have satisfactory knowledge and experience of water services operations (including sewerage) or experience of an equivalent nature and be capable in the management and administration of the relevant budgets.

(d) hold a full, current, clean Category B driving licence and have access to own car

Candidates will demonstrate through their application form and at the interview that he/she has/is:

• excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• people management skills
• leadership skills and experience
• report writing skills
• sound judgement
• ability to use technology
• the capacity to contribute to and work well in a team
• ability to plan and manage workloads
• problem solving skills
• a full, current, clean Class B drivers licence and use of own car
• general operative and related skills.
• detailed knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety requirements
• flexibility in terms of working hours as the duties can involve working nights, evening and weekend work as required

Rate of Pay:
Salary Scale: €817.48 - €863.85 per week

Hours of Work:
39 hours per week

Annual Leave:
24 days per annum plus Good Friday
