Kildare Fire Services serves a population approaching 247,000 persons (2024 Census) and has a number of high profile industries and distribution hubs located in the county. It is one of the prime commuter routes into the capital containing three motorways M4, M7 and M9. Kildare Fire Service attended an average of 1,889 calls per year over the past four years (2020 to 2023).
The Fire Service in Kildare is divided into three business units based on the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management Model (NDFEM) – Operations, Fire Safety and Emergency Management/Special Projects.
An opportunity now exists in Kildare County Council for the position of Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer.
The Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer will be required to lead the team of fire officers assigned to newly established work stream dealing the Remediation of Defects in Apartments and Duplexes scheme. This team will assess all applications included in this scheme and which are located within Co Kildare.
As a Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer, the successful candidate will have an important role in the management of staff and will form part of the management team at Kildare Fire Service.
