The Chief Technician is a key support position within the Council and is assigned to a service delivery area or to support a functional area as required. The Chief Technician will be required to lead a team or teams and to provide technical and managerial support across relevant service areas and to liaise with external agencies and support the democratic process. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Council, assisting with the implementation of work programmes to achieve goals, targets and standards set out in the Departmental and Unit operational plans.

The Chief Technician role requires excellent technical, supervisory, interpersonal, communication, research, reporting, budgetary and timescale management. The post holder will be expected to carry out their duties in a manner that enhances public trust and confidence and ensures impartial decision making.
