South Dublin County Council’s Law Department provides comprehensive legal services and advice to the County Council in the entire area of local government law including Property Based Services, Statutory Enforcement, Litigation (including Judicial Reviews), Dispute Resolution, Procurement, Commercial and E.U. law and general Legal Advisory Services. Property Based Conveyancing Services typically involve the buying, selling and letting of residential and commercial properties, together with the acquisition of lands required for public infrastructure and other purposes associated with the functions of the Local Authority.
South Dublin County Council is responsible for the enforcement of various regulatory codes including but not limited to Control of Dogs, Litter, Waste Management, Dangerous Structures 2 and Derelict Sites, Standards in Rented Accommodation and Planning Enforcement.
Advocacy Services are also provided by the Law Department Solicitors in Judicial Review, Circuit and High Court proceedings, together with file preparation and advocacy services for the Councils Finance Department for debt collection financial recovery. General advisory services are also provided to all departments within the Council under the direction of the Law Agent.
The Executive Solicitor will be required to work under the supervision and direction of the Law Agent. He / she will also be required at times to work independently under his / her initiative as circumstances demand.
