Job Summary

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of a Library Assistant are varied and can involve assignment to different libraries as well as relief duties across the library network.

1. Library Assistants perform a range of Duties including:
  1. Providing frontline library services to the public
  2. Dealing proactively and professionally with customers across a range of platforms – electronic, phone and in person.
  3. Assisting the public in using the public internet, self service facilities and other library ICT equipment and services
  4. Using relevant information and communication technologies
  5. Organising and delivering events and activities
  6. Assisting in the promotion and marketing of library services, through library tours, social media platforms, storytelling and community events.
  7. General clerical and administrative duties – processing and RFID tagging of stock, branch statistics, health and safety checklists, cash handling.

5.1.8 Branch Relief Work – cover in other locations as required to maintain library branch network opening hours during periods of holiday leave, sick leave, etc.;
5.1.9 Any other duties that may be assigned as part of the overall functioning of the Library Department.
