The Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly (EMRA) is one of the three Regional Assemblies in Ireland. It was created alongside the Southern and Northern & Western Regional Assemblies by the Local Government Reform Act 2014 and officially established in January 2015.
EMRA manages the Irish Regions European Office (IREO) and provides the Secretariat the Irish delegation to the Committee of the Regions (CoR) in Brussels on behalf of the three Regional Assemblies.
The Irish Regions European Office (IREO) is based in Brussels and represents the three Regional Assemblies and 31 local authorities of Ireland. Operating as part of the Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly and with the support of the Department for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, its focus is on bringing the EU closer to the wider local government sector and vice versa.
An opportunity now exists in Brussels for the position of Head of the Irish Regions European Office.
Reporting to the Director of the Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly, the Head of the IREO will be expected to fulfil a key leadership role with responsibility for the delivery of programmes and functions/services of the IREO and for driving the strategic direction of the Irish Regions European Office.
