Equality, diversity and inclusion are core values of the local government sector. These values form an important part of our culture from recruitment and selection, career progression through to day-to-day operations. 

There is an equality officer in each local authority and they work with an Equality Action Team to develop and implement positive action policies and initiatives and keep staff informed of equality, inclusion and diversity development.
