Job Summary

Cork City Council is establishing a panel for the position of Parking Enforcement Foreperson from which permanent and temporary vacancies may be filled from time to time.

This is an excellent opportunity to lead and manage a dedicated team responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of parking enforcement throughout Cork City. Working within the Traffic Operations Section of the Operations Directorate, you will play a crucial part in optimising parking availability and traffic flow, contributing to a positive experience for residents, businesses, and visitors.

As Parking Enforcement Foreperson, you will be responsible for the supervision and control of the Traffic Warden Service. This involves not only directing their daily activities but also fostering a collaborative and productive working environment. You will regularly patrol the city, gaining a first-hand understanding of parking challenges and ensuring compliance with regulations. A key aspect of this role is liaising with Garda Authorities and the City Council Traffic Division, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships.

Furthermore, you will play a vital role in managing Traffic Warden Supervisors, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's overall effectiveness. Your financial acumen will be essential as you will be responsible for maintaining budgetary controls and ensuring compliance with procurement guidelines. You will also be responsible for training section staff, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles.

Finally, your contribution to preparing yearly budget estimates and maintaining accurate records for audit purposes will be critical to the financial health and transparency of the Parking Enforcement Section. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the daily lives of those who live, work, and visit Cork City.
