I.S. Technical Support Officers (Technical Support) will be expected to carry out the following non-exhaustive list of duties:
 

• Support the ICT infrastructure environment including networks, servers, printing, desktop/laptop and mobile systems.
• Provide Tier 2 technical Support and work closely with the Senior Technical Support officer (Grade 6);
• Ensure that the IT Operations function acts as the liaison between the Council and suppliers and also as a supplier of services in its own right.
• Work on identified IT projects assigned.
• Assisting IT Staff where requested.
• Liaise with relevant internal departments across the Local Authority.
• Prepare documentation and reports as appropriate.
• Can work on own initiative while adhering to procedures and policies.
• Communicate effectively with the end user to resolve issues.
• Support the device lifecycle from purchase, configuration to de-commission.
• Respond to incidents and requests logged onto the IT helpdesk system.
• To ensure that Kildare County Council’s ICT infrastructure operates efficiently, performs to agreed targets, and delivers a secure and compliant platform for the Council to carry out its business.
• To act as an internal ICT specialist, leading where necessary in the delivery of solutions to technical issues.
• To assist the IT Security teams as required.
• To support the strategic objectives of Kildare County Council.
• To assist in the democratic mandate of the Local Authority through supporting the elected Members.

Education, Training and Experience etc.:

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms: 

1. Hold a qualification at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major award (i.e., honours degree), or higher in a relevant computing discipline plus 2 years directly relevant*, recent ICT hands-on experience from your employment date

2. A qualification at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major award (i.e., honours degree), or higher, with computing taken in the final year and at least 3 years directly relevant*, recent ICT hands-on experience from your employment date

3. A qualification at Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major award (i.e., ordinary degree) in a relevant computing discipline plus 3 years directly relevant*, recent ICT hands-on experience from your employment date

4. A qualification at Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major award in a relevant computing discipline and at least 4 years directly relevant*, recent ICT hands-on experience from your employment date

5. Have satisfactory knowledge of public service organisations or the ability to acquire such knowledge.

Applicants should at the date of applying hold a full valid Irish /EU licence, for Class B vehicles
