Job Summary

  1. JOB DESCRIPTION
    1. Role
Painters apply paint coatings, wall coverings and other materials internally and externally for decorative and preservation purposes.

This is to walls/surfaces in private dwellings and in commercial/industrial locations or other structures. Painters are also involved in the designing and producing of sign work and displays; and advise on colour selection and interior design
    1. Duties
The post holder will be required to carry out all the duties allocated to them by the Council under the direction and supervision of the relevant Supervisor. In particular the successful candidate will, under the direction of the relevant supervisor or other authorised person, be required to:
      1. Co-operate with their supervisors in the operation of various works programmes by taking a flexible approach to the range of assigned works to be undertaken from time to time as well as any other appropriate duties that may be assigned to them.
      2. The candidate may be required to drive a Council vehicle in the course of their duties and to use whatever mode of communication is provided.
      3. The candidate may be required to work out of hours as part of the Council’s emergency on call response service.
      4. Operate any existing technology and any new technology pertinent to their duties which may be introduced in the future.
      5. Maintain records of existing and proposed works done in various locations / periods including making and keeping attendance and work records and returns.
      6. Participate in mandatory Health and Safety training and all other training as required.
 
      1. Carry out painting/decorating and associated works with local authority planned and reactive maintenance repairs including minor associated trade works. Craftworker to clean and tidy up and make good after works
      2. To carry out such other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Flexibility to adapt and work between multiple work locations associated with reactive emergency repair requests
The post holder may be assigned to any Directorate or work location, from time to time, as determined by Management
