Meath County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which permanent & fixed-term contract vacancies for the position of Librarian shall be drawn.

Meath County Council provides a public library service through a network of fifthteen branch libraries. It also provides specialist local studies and school services from its County Library headquarters.

The duties of the post of the Librarian include, but are not limited to:

• Librarians assist the County Librarian, Senior Executive Librarians and Executive Librarians in the management and delivery of these countywide services;
• A Librarian's duties include responsibility for professional areas of library work provided at headquarters or in a branch library setting as dictated by the needs and requirements of the service;
• Librarians have responsibility for the management and supervision of Library Assistants and Senior Library Assistants and equivalent grades, and to ensure the training and development of such staff;
• Librarians must assign and monitor the work programme for their work area;
• Librarians have responsibility for the day to day operations of their work area;
• Librarians provide support to the Executive Librarians, Senior Executive Librarians and County Librarian based on a thorough understanding of the overall workings and policy of their work area;
• Librarians must motivate, empower and encourage staff to achieve maximum performance by supporting the current Performance Management and Development System (PMDS);
• Librarians will undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.
