Job Summary

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience, etc.
Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:
  1. Hold a recognised qualification in the trade of an electrician, be a time served electrician having achieved a Level 6 Craft Cert or Junior & Senior Electrical Trade Certs or equivalent City & Guilds examinations with 5 years plus of field experience in Public Lighting or associated Electrical Installations.
  2. Hold a QC (Qualified Certifier) for verification and inspection of Electrical Installations recognised by Safe Electric.
  3. Have a full driving licence free from endorsement;

In the event that an offer of employment is made, the candidate will be required to submit all relevant Educational Qualifications in order to meet the requirements above. 
 

DESIREABLE SKILLS
An ability to demonstrate competence in the following areas:

  1. Have adequate experience and knowledge of electrical and electronic components and systems, with adequate experience of fault finding on Public Lighting Installations including competence and experience of CAT & Genny cable locators, cable fault detection systems and multi meters.
  2. Have previous experience of TNC earthing systems, concentric cabling and a working knowledge of ESBN LV underground and overhead Network Systems. 
  3. Hold relevant Health & Safety requirements and a good knowledge of up to date applicable codes and regulations
  4. Have a general knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering practice along with an ability to read and interpret electrical design drawings, specifications, regulations, codes, and any other material pertinent to a project.
  5. Have attained such a standard of education as would enable him/her to carry out efficiently the duties of the office, including the writing of clear and concise reports, costing returns, statistics, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.;
  6. Have adequate experience in a public lighting role.
  7. MEWP - training and experience in Mobile Elevated working platforms used for accessing public lighting.
  8. Lone Working policy and procedure – will be working alone for much of their time and adherence to an appropriate lone working methodology essential.
  9. Use of scanning equipment for location of underground buried cables.
