Job Summary

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience, etc.
Candidates must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:
  1. Hold a professional qualification in Quantity Surveying that is prescribed under the Building Control Act 2007, or a qualification in Quantity Surveying that is equivalent to a qualification so prescribed; and
  2. Be eligible for registration as a Quantity Surveyor under the building Control Act 2007 without requiring further assessment. Any appointment will be subject to registration under the Act; and
  3. Have at least five years satisfactory experience of Quantity Surveying; and
  4. Possess a high standard of technical training and experience; and
  5. Possess a high standard of administrative experience.

Please Note:  Non Irish Qualifications must be accompanied by a determination from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) to establish their comparability against the Irish National Framework of Qualifications. Overseas qualifications must also be accompanied by a translation document. Failure to do so will deem your application inadmissible***
The onus is on the candidate to ensure that the relevant qualification is listed on their application form.

In the event that an offer of employment is made, the candidate will be required to submit all relevant Educational Qualifications in order to meet the requirements above.

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

An ability to demonstrate competence in the following areas:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • People management skills;
  • Leadership skills and experience, as well as self- motivational skills;
  • have a good working knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations in the workplace;
  • have a good working knowledge of the Capital Works Management Framework and the Public Works;
  • a good working knowledge of European and National procurement rules and processes
  • Sufficient knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the construction of buildings and structures;
  • have the ability to project manage the delivery of all aspects of various construction projects from feasibility through to completion;
  • have the ability to manage financial resources within a budgetary control framework;
  • display an ability to manage, advise and partake in adjudication, conciliation, arbitration and dispute resolution on construction projects;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Budget preparation and management skills;
  • Planning and organisational skills;
  • possess strong ICT skills and have the ability to analyse and interrogate data readily, and to pinpoint the critical information and address issues logically;
  • Current, full, unendorsed, Class B driver’s license and use of own car;

The holder of the office will be required to hold a valid Irish/EU full driving licence for class B vehicles or a licence acceptable to NDLS for exchange, free from endorsement and disqualification. They must be a competent driver and shall drive a motor car in the course of his/her duties and for this purpose, provide and maintain a car to the satisfaction of the Local Authority.
