Carlow County Council provides services to a population of over 62,000 citizens in areas of housing, roads, transportation, planning, environment, libraries, economic and community development, tourism, fire and emergency response, parks, amenities, heritage, arts, and water services.
Carlow County Council consists of 18 members elected every five years and local elections will be held this year. The county is divided into the three Municipal Districts of Carlow, Muinebheag & Tullow.
An opportunity now exists in Carlow County Council for the position of Director of Finance.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance will lead and manage the finance function within the Authority. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance may also have other responsibilities in the overall management of the Authority.
As a key member of the Senior Management team, the successful candidate will be required to make a valuable contribution to the strategic management of the Finance function as well as provide a high level of independence and objectivity. This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to fully utilise their professional, technical and management skills in an environment that promotes a high performance culture. As well as leading the finance function, additional responsibilities involving other function areas of the Local Authority may be assigned from time to time.
