These services include the provision of physical and social infrastructure, housing, economic development and enterprise support, tourism development, community and cultural development, recreation and amenity services, emergency services and the enforcement of the planning and environmental regulatory framework.
Donegal is spatially unique, having the longest coastline in the State, sharing 93% of its land boundary with Northern Ireland and only 7% with the Republic of Ireland. As such Donegal’s natural functional area transcends its land boundary with Northern Ireland with substantial movement and interactions of citizens, goods and activities taking place across the region.

An opportunity now exists in Donegal County Council for the position of Director of Services.
The Director of Services is a member of the Senior Management Team of Donegal County Council and supports the Chief Executive in advancing the physical, economic, social and cultural life of Donegal and in developing and overseeing the organisational structures and resources needed to deliver an extensive range of services to the public, in a cost effective and efficient manner. The Director of Service is typically responsible for a number of functional areas and may also be responsible for a Municipal District within the county.
The Director of Service will manage large multidisciplinary teams and budgets and will be required to lead their functional areas in a strategic manner, implementing any change management programmes as appropriate or necessary.
