The Craftworker Painter is a key role within the Galway City Council Housing Department. Galway City Council owns and maintains approximately 2,500 social houses at present. The Craftworker Painter role is critical to the efficient maintenance and management of the Council’s housing stock.
Works will include: planned, routine and emergency repairs as required. Preventative maintenance works are also required on an ongoing basis. Works can incorporate all aspects of painting contained within domestic house constructions both externally and internally.
As a Craftworker Painter, the successful candidate will be required to work as part of an overall housing maintenance team. This will involve co-ordinating and carrying out works in conjunction with the Area Foreman, the Housing Maintenance Clerk of Works, Electricians, Carpenters, external contractors and General Operatives.
The role of Craftworker Painter will involve significant interaction with the Council’s tenants and therefore, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for this role.
