Job Summary


Galway City Council has a requirement for an EV infrastructure Coordinator at Senior Executive Engineer level, on a five-year contract basis. The EV Infrastructure Coordinator will report to the Senior Engineer, Roads & Environment Department or such person as may be assigned from time to time by Galway City Council.

The role will involve working closely with the Zero Emissions Vehicles Ireland (ZEVI), Galway City Council Departments and other key stakeholders in the coordination and delivery of the EV strategy and EV infrastructure for the Galway City Council Administrative area. The coordinator will consider all relevant policy documentation at national and local level in the delivery of the EV infrastructure.


The successful candidate will ensure that:

  • EV Strategy and implementation plans are completed in a timely manner
  • Funding streams are sought efficiently and drawn down for sufficient works in order to achieve the requirements of the strategy
  • Relevant other policy documentation at local and national level are considered as part of the strategy
  • Adequate consultation with ZEVI, internal departments and other key stakeholders
  • Processes and procedures are in place to ensure a high standard budget management.
  • Processes and procedures are in place to ensure compliance with procurement guidelines
  • Adequate process is set up for efficient & quality contract management.

 

The duties of the EV Local Infrastructure Co-ordinator may include but are not limited to;

  • Lead and manage projects and programmes in order to deliver on EV strategy.
 
  • Identify and agree work programmes, targets and deadlines and ensure their subsequent implementation and delivery;
 
  • Lead and manage relevant staff and promote the training and development of such staff;
 
  • Develop and manage Financial Resources including Budgets and Procurement;
 
  • Health and safety management and control and develop health and safety culture within the workplace;
 
  • Assist and manage where required in change management;
 
  • Preparation/presentation of plans/policies for consideration by Council;
 
  • Preparation/implementation of reports as required;
 
  • Carry out duties in an impartial manner that enhances public trust and confidence in the local authority decision making process;
 
  • Carry out duties in a politically neutral manner, with a clear understanding of the political reality and context of the local authorit;
 
  • Such other duties as may from time to time be reasonably assigned appropriate to the grade;
 
  • Management of the day-to-day operation and administration of all Electric Vehicle programmes including any pilot projects;
 
  • Lead, develop and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders engaging with various government departments, ZEVI, academic institutions and external agencies in research activities, programme development and evaluation of programme impact;
 
  • Develop and manage a multi annual portfolio of EV Infrastructural projects within budget and on time;
 
  • Ability to work with stakeholders in the sector and in seeking co-operation and consensus with a whole range of bodies and representative groups;
 
  • Work with senior management in devising EV policies and strategies and delivering on implementation plans leading to improved efficiencies in delivery of services;
 
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and manage the implementation of programmes and projects across the EV service areas;
 
  • Deliver projects within this sector in compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations and concerning procurement, planning, etc.;
 
  • Develop and manage projects to align with National EV Infrastructure Strategy and Regional and Local EV Charging Network Plans and requirements;
 
  • Ensure the infrastructure installed is protected contractually for technology upgrades and can be adopted to meet developments with the Digital strategy of the City;
 
  • Leading public procurement and tendering processes including tender documentation and award of contracts.
