Meath County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which permanent & fixed-term contract vacancies for the position of Senior Library Assistant shall be drawn.
Meath County Council provides a public library service through a network of fifteen branch libraries.
It also provides specialist local studies and school services from its County Library headquarters.
The duties of a Senior Library Assistant are as follows:
Supervising and supporting colleagues in the delivery of branch and headquarter services;
General library duties, branch library work and administration;
Customer service and supporting reference and research; Handling cash and lodgements;
Supporting ICT and digital services, providing assistance, support and guidance to all library users in the areas of information communication technologies, Internet services and online resources; Maintenance and processing duties on all library stock; Promotions and publicity of library events and resources;
Supporting literacy and implementing programs for children and young adults;Perform such duties as may from time to time be assigned to him/her in relation to his/her employment and as may be appropriate to any particular function of any local authority for which the manager is responsible;
Any other duties that may be assigned by the line manager.
