The Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly is one of three Regional Assemblies in Ireland that collectively represent the regional tier of government. EMRA comprises twelve constituent local authorities. EMRA works with stakeholders at EU, national, regional and local level to enable sustainable regional development. Its main role is to prepare, adopt and implement the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy, ensure consistency of the Local Economic and Community Plan with this Strategy, participate on EU operational programme monitoring committees, participate and co-ordinate EU projects and support the national delegation to the EU Committee of the Regions.
